EDS keeps in touch with Leak Detection roots

EDS crew discovers and reports a water leak in Birmingham, which had the potential to impact multiple properties in the community.

Whilst travelling to their next survey location, one of our CCTV crews came across a burst fire hydrant on the corner of Lees Street in Birmingham. They reported the incident to Severn Trent Water to be resolved.

A burst fire hydrant can impact the local area in a number of ways. The sheer amount of water that escapes (as seen in the photo below) can be too much for the road gullies to handle, causing them to overflow into the street. The burst can also have an adverse affect on the local resident’s water supply, causing a decrease in pressure or even no supply at all.

Our crew’s actions hopefully prevented a small burst escalating, and reduced the impact on the local community.
